Richard Wagner Ouverture from "Tannhäuser"
Ludwig van Beethoven Piano Concerto n. 4 in G major op. 58
Hanns Eisler Niemandsland
Erwin Schulhoff Symphony n. 2

On the occasion of the Holocaust Remembrance Day, laVerdi will explore the voices and music that accompanied (and often tragically sustained) the violence of the Holocaust. On the one hand, Wagner and Beethoven, the masters of Romanticism, which were celebrated by Nazi propaganda; on the other, Schulhoff and Eisler, both forgotten composers, who were killed by or fled from the Nazi craze, and who, with their music, left a moving and valuable testimony of one of the most atrocious tragedies in human History.
