Mirko Guadagnini, tenor

Born in Milan, he studied at the Conservatoire Giuseppe Verdi in Milan. His repertoire ranges from baroque music to Twentieth century composers (Strawinsky, Castiglioni, Britten, Malipiero, Danieli, Zanolini).
In 1998 he won the As.Li.Co. competition. He subsequently performed in the role of Learco in Gustavo I by Galuppi at the Festival of Montepulciano, in the role of Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni and of Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi. In the following year he performed as Tom Rakewell in the production of Strawinsky's The Rake's Progress conducted by Bruno Campanella at Teatro Regio in Turin.
In 2001 he was Fenton in Falstaff and Hortensio in Kiss me Kate at Teatro Regio in Turin, Aeneas in Aeneas and Dido for the Maggio Musicale in Florence under Alessandro De Marchi, and Roderigo in Verdi's Otello at Théatre du Châtelet in Paris under Myung-Whun Chung.
In 2002 he performed as Paolino in Il Matrimonio Segreto in Montecarlo and Turin; Itulbo in Il Pirata at Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris; Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at Praha's Stavovské Divadlo; Matelot in Milhaud's Le Pauvre Matelot at Teatro Rossini in Lugo; Clistene in Pergolesi's L'Olimpiade conducted by Ottavio Dantone for the opening of the season of the Pergolesi- Spontini Festival in Jesi; Apollo in Orfeo in Cremona, Brescia and Como and in La Vedova Scaltra by Wolf Ferrari at Opéra de Montpellier.
In 2003 he sang for the opening of Teatro La Fenice in Venice with Caldara's Te Deum led by Riccardo Muti and Petite Messe Solennelle led by Marcello Viotti.
In 2004 he made his debut as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte at Teatro Politeama in Lecce, as Oronte in Alcina by Händel at Teatro Verdi in Trieste, as Conte in Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Paisiello at Teatro La Fenice in Venice and as Cassio in Otello at Grand Théâtre de Genève. In 2005 he sang Nerone in L'incoronazione di Poppea at Opera de Lyon, conductor William Christie with Les Arts Florissants; in Händel's Messiah in Florence with Orchestra della Toscana.
He has an intensive concert activity with orchestras such as the Orchestra della Scala, Radio France, Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, Accademia S. Cecilia in Rome, Orchestra Regionale Toscana in Florence, Accademia Bizantina and Europa Galante. He has also developed his interest in chamber music, working with pianists such as Irwin Gage.
He takes part in the 2005/06/07 cycle of concerts featuring the whole sacred works of Mozart with Chamber Orchestra of Manta under the direction of Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli.
He made his debut at La Scala in Milan as Goffredo in Rinaldo by Händel, conductor Ottavio Dantone and director Pier Luigi Pizzi. He debuted the title role of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo at Auditorium Verdi in Milan and at Auditorium Nacional de Madrid, role that he will be singing in tournée in all Europe in 2007 and 2008 and that he also recorded for Glossa (Choc du Monde de la Musique).
In 2006 he sang Oronte in Alcina under Alessandro De Marchi at Opera de Lyon and Don Ottavio in Il Dissoluto Assolto by Azio Corghi and Josè Saramago at Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon, role that he performed again in the new production of Teatro alla Scala in Milan in October 2006, and he made his debut in the role of Renaud in Armide by Gluck at Tel Aviv New Israeli Opera.
In 2007, Mirko Guadagnini sang in Milan with Orchestra Sinfonica Verdi Serenata by B.Britten led by Claus Peter Flor, he appeared at the opening of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino 2007 in the world premiere of Antigone by Ivan Fedele under Michel Tabachnik staged by Mario Martone (Abbiati Prize 2007 of the Italian Critics as best production and best cast), and in Seoul Korea Opera for the revival of Rinaldo by Händel - Goffredo led by Guillaume Tourniaire, production of Pier Luigi Pizzi at Teatro alla Scala.
Most recently, Mirko Guadagnini sang again at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale 2008 in Florence the role of Hippolyt in the new production of Phaedra by Hans Werner Henze led by Roberto Abbado.
He is singing all over Europe and USA the title role of L'Orfeo by Monteverdi, role that he recorded for Glossa with great critical acclaim such as Choc du Monde de la Musique, Grammophone Awards 2008 Best Baroque Vocal.
