Matthieu Mantanus is born in Lausanne, Swizerland, in the year 1978. He obtains his piano diploma at seventeen at the Conservatoire de Lausanne, where he passed two years later his post graduate diploma with prize. In the 1999, he plays with Concertgebouw chamber orchestra in Milano, sala Verdi, for the Società dei Concerti ‘s season.
Contemporary, he follows masterclasses in Italy, with Massimiliano Damerini, in Canada at Orford At Center with Marc Durand and Jean Saulnier, and, obtains in Siena's Accademia Chigiana, the Diploma di Merito in the class of Paul Badura-Skoda. In the year 1997, he moves to Roma in order to study composing with Teresa Procaccini and Orchestra Conducting with Bruno Aprea where he obtains three years later the conducting diploma in the International Academy of Arts. He follows masterclasses with Robert Jansens and Erol Erdiç in Brussel, Jorma Panula in Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and in Accademia Filarmonica di Verona, and two years with Gianluigi Gelmetti in Siena's Accademia Chigiana. He has been assistant of Giuseppe Sinopoli in his productions at the Wiener Staatsoper (Frau Ohne Schatten), La Scala di Milano (Ariadne auf Naxos), Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Santa Cecilia in Roma.
Founder and chief conductor of the youth orchestra “Giovani Solisti di Tirana”, he conducts in the Albany's capital number of concerts and a production of “Maestro di Cappella” and “Serva Padrona”. Involved, with his orchestra, in CIDIM's important season “Alegretto Albania”, he plays with great artists such as Massimo Quarta or Giorgia Tomassi and he conducts in Milano's Sala Verdi and Lugano's Auditorium Besso for the Swiss Radio Television.. In the 2002, he conducts in Avignon a production of Histoire du Soldat with the Avignon - Provence orchestra and for the second time conducts the Ravenna Symphony Orchestra in a full Beethoven program. In the 2003 he conducts for the first time the Solisti Aquilani with Giorgio Carnini as a soloist. It is Giorgio Carnini that charges him, at the beginning of 2004, to lead his new orchestra, “Camerata Italica” as chief conductor. With this orchestra he conducts number of concerts in the orchestra roman's season and open the Mozartissimo festival at the Capitol. From 2005, he integrates the Milano Symphony Orchestra Giuseppe Verdi as coordinator of the Music & Cinema season; with this orchestra he already presents several concerts, in the “Crescendo in Musica” season, and outside concerts. Chief conductor of the new Amatorial Symphony Orchestra project La Verdi per tutti, organized by the Giuseppe Verdi Symphony Orchestra Foundation in Milano's Auditorium, he conducts this new Orchestra already twice (in June 2006 with Mozart's Haffner and Beethoven's 1st Symphony and in January 2007 with Beethoven's third piano concerto and 2nd Symphony) and obtained a great public success. He perform and will perform several concerts in the 2006 - 2007 with all these orchestras. He entered in the Direction Comitee of the Foundation Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi in July 2006.
