In 2008, following the tradition established in the past few years, laVerdi will bring music "behind bars" with the programme "Music in Prison", part of the "Music of the Spirit" project.Two initiatives are planned in the current season, both sponsored by Telecom Progetto Italia:
- an initiative with the inmate's choir of the "La Nave" wing in the prison of S.Vittore;
- a concert in the theatre of the prison of Bollate by the amateur orchestra "laVerdi per tutti", conducted by Maestro Matthieu Mantanus.
CHOIR OF INMATES IN THE LA NAVE
The second training course for the choir of inmates in the "La Nave" wing comprises 30 sessions, of two hours each, held on Saturday morning by Ms Maria Teresa Tramontin with Mr Cavedon at the piano and the extraordinary participation of Mr De Martini at the violin.
The first quarter of the training course culminated in the Christmas Mass, celebrated in the morning of 25th december by the abbot of St Ambrogio, Father Ermino De Scalzi, with a programme of Christmas carols performed by the choir.
The second quarter will be concluded by a concert in San Vittore, next June, with a programme of music from the world choral repertoire.

ORCHESTRA LA VERDI FOR EVERYBODY IN CONCERT
The idea of bringing a full orchestra in Bollate originates from the request of a number of inmates who followed the lessons held in the prison by laVerdi players in the past. Thanks to the kind assistance of Ms Lucia Castellano, director of the prison of Bollate, and to the sponsorship of Telecom Progetto Italia, the concert will be performed on Saturday 19th january, at 6 pm. The programme includes music by Elgar and Schubert.
